  • Terrible experience, do not buy!!!
I ordered two ! of these as a gift for Christmas the first arrived with the back part of the machine completely broken off. I exchanged it for the same machine when that one arrived it didn't work. It would turn on and then nothing. AT ALL. Now I have to return it and my gift recipient still has no gift.

    Excellent mid-market Machine
This is an excellent midmarket machine though the first one we bought wouldn't pump water at all that was fixed with a replacement. The handle can vibrate itself loose in the middle of pulling a shot so be sure it's in there tight. The drip tray also has a weird corrosion problem but that's not visible and doesn't hurt the machine or anything it's just odd. This is for oneoff drinks and it can take a good several minutes to make a good coffee drink but we're very happy with the purchase considering budget and what we use it for 34 drinks per week.

    such a disappointment
I was given this as a gift this year and the first one we tried could never prime the pumpno sound whatsoevertook it back 1 day later and replaced itsecond one started off fine with the priming processbut the water NEVER EVER came thru. Eventually I think the motor burnt out. The machine looks lovely and looks like it is solidly built. The contact Lello in NJ never had anyone at homeso we took the second one back and got a full refund. So disappointing.

First thing I ever bought on Amazon, still working!
I bought this unit November 30 2007 for my husband for Christmas. We are coffee addicts and his tiny little Mr Coffee plastic espresso machine was struggling. I was very hesitant about dropping $200 on an espresso machine. I added it up and we spend about that much a month at our local cafe. So I figured if it popped out 60 drinks then we'd break even. It is December 2012 and this little machine is still going strong! I just found out that it takes ESE pods after 5 years I finally figure this out! and that just makes my day! We have really enjoyed it and have had no problems thus far. I highly recommend it.

    The good, bad, and ugly.
This is the second time I have purchased one of these coffee makers. It makes great coffee quickly and it is dependable. My major gripe is with the drip tray. They are crap. I shelled out an extra 25 bucks for the latest one thinking that surely for that much more they put in a stainless steel tray. Nooooo it's the same painted or coated junk as the last one. You would think that this is no big deal but the coating bubbles up and falls off and rust bubbles up and over the sides rendering it uncleanable and simply downright ugly. I would hold out for a maker with a stainless steel drip tray. I have had this new one for a few months an have resorted to foil to attempt to stave off the budding cancer which is already moving right along. Why a company would go to such great pains to build a good product and then finish it off with this kind of crap is a mystery to me.

    Missing pin
The box says there is a special Pin Device enclosed to remove blockages from the basket. I don't have any Pin Device enclosed and I can't seem to find any Customer Service at Amazon or Lello to address this.

After 6yrs of hard use, RIP
I'm not a barista nor a connoisseur of coffee but I know good food and I know what tastes good. This is my very first espresso machine I bought on the cheap 6 years ago under $200 similar to the price that it is now attracted by the all metallic design and quality feel. I've never tried out another espresso machine so I have little by way of comparison. But as a long time user of this machine I can say this. The latte I was able to make with this little machine tastes better than the $4.50 equivalent at Starbucks.. I haven't had a single problem for 6 years until just recently. The pump finally gave out. RIP.. I used this machine almost daily many times twice in a day.Any negatives about this machine? Let me mention a few. I suspect that the plastic container that stores the water is probably not BPA free. But that's probably par for the course with the other machines as well.. The metallic tray that catches the excess water will rot. It's not pretty. My solution was to paint it over with a little latex paintYou know I think that's about it. Some people have complained that a little water drips from the bottom? Okay. So the bottom tray fails to capture every ounce of water. Not a big deal for me.

    Excellent weight, feel and value
I've had my Ariete Cafe for over 2 years. It's heavy and built like a tank not the all plastic feel you get with many of the espresso machines. The ONLY complaint is that it sometimes shots a stream of water through the steamer wand before it becomes 100% steam.

    Well Built Machine
I purchased this espresso machine about 4 years ago and am just getting around to writing a review for it. Since I have owned this machine for so long I feel that I know it quite well. It does still work amazingly and still produces an espresso and capuccino rivaling any coffee house. I use it each and everyday have been for 4 years so I suppose I've pulled at least 1460 drinks from this thing and it is still going strong! Some words of caution however. The water catch under the tray is rusting and has been for probably 3 years. You cannot see this unless you remove the tray and it does not affect how the machine functions though. Also when adding the ground espresso I normally use Illy do not tamp it down because water will not go through it potentially causing it to dislodge from the machine. The strainer cups that you put the ground espresso have to be cleaned of epresson particles every once in awhile. Normally I just put water in the strainer cup after I make my drink and cup it with my hand and force the water out through the one hole. If this is done each day you can be rest assured that the strainer cup will not get clogged.Because I have had this machine for so long and know its quirks I could see this machine lasting another 4 years quite easily. For the money I think it is a nobrainer to buy this machine. It makes espresso comparable to a $1000 machine seriously it really does! People are amazed at the drinks I make and assume that this machine was much more money. There is nothing plastic on this machine it is quite substantial and built like a tank.

    The best coffee maker!!!
I love this machineit makes the greatest coffee. I lost it in one trip so I'm getting a new one. Some other friends after our experience got one to.The only problem that this machine has is the metallic tray that will rotten with the coffee drips if you are not careful.

Krups XP7260 Automatic Espresso Cappuccino Horrible - keeps breaking, lots of issues!

Krups XP7260 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with Auto Cappuccino Kit by Rowenta

Krups XP7260 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with Auto Cappuccino Kit Feature

  • Built-in conical burr grinder; pre-ground bypass doser; steamer
  • Patented auto-cappuccino system for foolproof milk frothing included
  • Oversized digital display and intuitive controls for ease of use
  • Compact fully automatic espresso machine grinds, brews, and tamps
  • Measures 12-1/2 by 9-1/2 by 14-1/4 inches; 1-year warranty
  • Horrible - keeps breaking, lots of issues!
After just a few months we sent the machine in to Krups because the steamer stopped working. They fixed it after several weeks but sent the machine back without most of its accessories like the necessary water container and also damaged. They then promised to replace the unit with a new unit. Instead we received somebody else's even older unit but since they stopped making this machine that's all they could do. I asked for a refund but they said because it was purchased through Amazon they couldn't do that. A few months later it broke again this time the on/off button just stopped working. We now had it for another 2 months and it keeps running some 'auto test' and asks to empty the containers without making any coffee. Customer service is telling me they will repair it just ONE more time. This thing has been nothing but a headache and is not worth purchasing at ANY price! It hasn't worked for more than a couple of months at a time.

    Same Error 6 Code
Same issues as everyone else. Error Code 6 several times. I would never buy another Krups machine after this. We have sent our machine in twice for servicing in three years! Now it is broke again. No worth the hassle.

    2920 cups at 25 cents a cup
Well our Krups XP7260 just broke today 13 months after purchase in what appears to be the classic way clogged up and leaking. When I called the customer service center the rep immediately asked me if I used dark roast beans. I said yes. He said that they were too oily and clogged the grinder and that there was an insert with the packaging saying they recommend using medium roast beans for this reason. I said I read no such insert.I actually found the insert and read it to the repit said only that if we used a more oily bean to make sure we stirred them in the hopper before making coffee. We did this almost as a religious ritual. Of course we are just out of the warranty period 13 months on a oneyear warranty and the number he gave me for a service center in MD turned out to be a teacher named Terry from Wyoming who very kindly called me back after I left him a message asking for costs etc.He said he couldn't fix my machine either so don't everybody go stampeding to Terry the teacher in WY WHENnot if your XP7260 breaks.I did the math and as my review title states we enjoyed about 2900 4oz cups of very good coffee before it hit the skids. Yes we loved the coffee. But I will NOT buy another Krups. A $700 appliance should last longer than one year. We did every cleaning and changed the filter every time. We stirred the beans. We emptied the containers and rinsed it and kept it shiny clean.

    Save your money
I had a Krups Palantino automatic espresso machine and it lasted about 10 years with one minor repair. So when it finally gave up the ghost I looked for another Krups to replace it. Unfortunately I choose the XP7620. It worked fine for about 1 1/2 years then started giving machine test messages and error codes. I sent it in for repairs and the cost was $240.00 to repair the unit. I did all the proper and required maintenance to make sure this machine would last as long as its predecessor but to no avail. The truth is the more sophisticated the machine the more unreliable they become. I will not purchase another Krups product ever.

    Poorly Constructed
I have had several superautomatic machines in my life One Saeco One Jura and the Krups. The Krups is not even in the same league as the other two.I bought two of these from William Sonoma at a good price. Since they don't have a bypass doser I used one for Regular and the other for Decaf. About one year after purchasing the more heavily used machine regular began to leak pretty substantially and stopped working. I switched to the second machine and within 8 months it failed identically.Other issues The water reservoir is tiny. If you use the overpriced filters it becomes even tinier. There is no way to turn off the autooff functionality so you'll have to wait for it to warm up when you want coffee. If you do a long coffee it requires two full cycles as opposed to a double dose. It's loud. This machine is poorly built and not durable at all. Buy a Saeco Vienna if this is your price point it will last several years. Krups should stick to drip coffee machines.

    YOU SAID KRAPS !
If you are looking for troubles buy this coffee machine. It brokes brokes and brokesAbsolutely not reliable. It look nice and it's not big but its a real lemon.Ours broke four times in a year. We made 4 coffes per week with it only on weekend. We are very careful with it but it brokes on and on.They repair it under the guarantee but we always have problems.IT's a shame that a company like Krups made products like this.If you go visit any store that sell that machine they will confirm this to you.DON'T BUY THIS YOU WILL REGRET IT LIKE US.

    DO NOT BUY!!!!
I am on my 6th machine and waiting on my 7th back from repair. This machine is very unreliable and constantly breaks.

    Don't purchase thjis machine
I question this companies ability to engineer this machine. We have had to return ours seven 7 times for service. Twice we recieved back machines that didn't work at all so I also question their quality control in their service/warrany area. They tried to fix our orginal one multiple times before sending us a remanufactured machine which also broken down several times. Finally after complaining to the New Jersey Better Business Bureau the company sent us a brand new one but now that one is back in the shop. When the machine throws an Error Code their customer service department has never been successful in walking us through how to clear the code so you have to ship it back to them your machine will be gone for at LEAST one month. So make sure you do what we didn't buy your machine from a vendor that will give you 'loaners' while yours is at the shop. In addition to the error code issues we had a water line blow on our 1st machine water all over the counter top. The other issue we had twice as they returned us a machine without correcting the problem I sent them a MS Powerpoint Presentation showing them the issues the machine was leaking muddy coffee all over my countertop. It was was trying to eject mud into the cake drawer. I showed them a beaker which showed that I was not gett my 4 ounces into my mug but into the cookie tray I had to place under the machine to protect my countertop from getting stains. When this machine does make a cup of coffee it is great coffee the problem is that seems to be a rare occassion at my house.

    Flawed, flawed Product
We purchased this machine about a 2 years ago. We are hugely disappointed. We paid close $980 this was before these were marked down. Here's the fatal flaw not mentioned anywhere until the machine breaks and you attempt to have Krups honor the warranty and fix itThis Premium product that is how Krups describes it cannot process oily dark roast or espresso roast beans. They gum up the insides. Now Krups doesn't disclose this fact in the marketing packaging or manual in a clear fashion. How did we find this out? We shipped it to Krups to have it fixed. For the third time. This is after trying to work with a bad authorized repair outlet the only one Krups will allow you to take it to in Western Washington 3 times. Yep 3 times. So we then contact Krups and they reluctantly agree to try and fix the product it's still under warranty. So we haul it to UPS and ship it out.. only to receive it about 3 weeks later broken. Faceplate cracked. And taped to the top a nice little hand written notedon't use oily beans. It break this really fastNice. And our calls to Krups are fielded by Tom one of the rudest customer service agents I have EVER dealt with. So we'll ship this back again and again and again . but we'll NEVER buy another Krups product again. Not only are they poorly designed but Krups doesn't stand behind their products and treats their customers badly. So baldy it's sinful they are even allowed to sell on AMZN who nails customer service EVERY time.

    Unbelievably poor product AND service!
I'm reliving my nightmare reading all the other poor reviews preceding my own.1. We've owned it for 21 months and it's been in a state of disrepair since month 10.2. It continually clogs up and leaks water and coffee ground all over the table.3. We've shipped it to the local repair shop 1 hour drive both ways three times4. We've shipped it back to KRUPS once and are shipping it again.5. Customer service is disappointingly unresponsive implying they've gone outside policy repairing a unit past the one year warranty despite its never worked much longer than a month past repair since month tenRUN AWAY DO NOT BUY FROM KRUPS.
